The Club Ladies held their Laurenson Open Triples, Sponsored by Margaret & Rob Laurenson for some 29 years on Sunday 12th June, Triples from all over the GBA and outwith the local area took part in the competition which was played in sections with each team playing each other over 5 ends.
At the end of the section games the Section winners were, Joyce Burns, Alison Donohoe and Fiona Stewart from Singer BC, Mary Orr, Susan Hunter and Helen Bowie from, Goldenhill BC. Sandra Watt, Ann Chisolm and C. Laird from Clydebank BC with the highest up Runners Up Veronica Bell, Susan Claisse and Patricia McCallan joining them in the Semi Finals.
In The First Semi Final Fiona Stewart from Singer BC, faced the local triple skipped by Pat McCallan from Helensburgh, and in an exciting game the Singer Triple proved to be too much for the local triple as theyheaded towards the final. In The second Semi Final Sandra Watt, Ann Chisolm and C. Laird from Clydebank BC started off with a bang against the triple of Mary Orr, Susan Hunter and Helen Bowie from, Goldenhill BC and after 4 ends had sped into a lead of 9 shots to 3. The Goldenhill ladies however were not finished and in the 5th End their skip Helen Bowie trailed the jack to score 5 shots to bring the score to 9 shots to 8 against them. In the final end the Goldenhill ladies closed the game out in remarkable fashion scoring 2 to win by 10 shots to 9.
The Final saw the near neighbours Singer Triple play the Goldenhill Triple . The Singer Triple started best and opened the scoring to lead by 1 shot to nil before Goldenhill scored in 3 successive ends, including another 5, to lead by 9 shots to 1. The Singer triple fought back well but in the end the Goldenhill Triple of Mary Orr, Susan Hunter and Helen Bowie proved to be worthy winners by 9 shots to 5.
After the games were completed the Helensburgh Lady Captain Patricia McCallan presented the Semi Finalist and Runners Up with their Prizes and the Winners with the Trophy and their prizes.
