Alan Air, who became the youngest ever champion of Helensburgh Bowling Club in 2013, and went on to add to his wins in 2014and 2016, has once again entered the record books. 22 year old Alan has just won the Bowls Scotland District 11 finals in the main and the under 25 singles events and in so doing has qualified in both competitions for the National Championship final stages at Northfield Ayr from 24th to 29th July. On Wednesday of last week he defeated Paul Kane of the Brock B.C. 21-15 in the under 25 district final, and followed this with a decisive 21-10 win over Colin McIntyre of Vale of Leven B.C. on Thursday evening in the main gent’s singles event.
Alan has also reached the final of the Dunbartonshire Triples with playing partners Andy Sneddon and Eddie Claisse to be played at Killermont B.C. on Saturday 1st July. In what is building up to a very successful season, for Alan, culminates in Wales in September, where he has been selected to play for Scotland in the under 25 British Isles Championships, a truly magnificent achievement for an excellent young bowler.
