Ladies Opening of Greens Wednesday 19th April 2017

The ladies opening of Helensburgh bowling club greens took place on Wednesday 18th April2018.  Lady captain Mrs Liz Fraser welcomed members and guests including Mr Eddie Claisse gents captain(standing in for President Roger Jones) Mrs Ginty Struth District Secretary of the WOSWBA, Mrs Jean Anderson District Secretary from the DWBA, Mrs Sandra Glazsher from the GWBA, Annette Christie Match Group Front Club House webSecretary and Ladies Champion. Attending today we have guests from no less than 10 kindred clubs and 5 within the area. Ladies captain welcomed new members Elizabeth Skinner, Patricia Price, Sandra McNeish, Elaine Calderwood, Anne King, Roberta Lees and Sandra Strachan and presented them with a club lapel badge. Lady Captain then presented the Ladies Lady Captains Rink WebChampion Mrs Annette Christie with her championship medal and went onto present the winners of the GWBA League and senior "B" League with their winners medals winners of League were Mrs Margaret Hogg, Mrs Susan Claisse, Mrs Annette Christie Mrs Pat Donald and Mrs Liz Fraser(skip) winners of Senior B Team were Margaret Grant, Jenifer Jones, Jill Dacombe and Katherine Fotheringham(skip).
The gents captain then invited the Lady Captain to Open the Greens.
Lady Captain delivered the first Jack and two bowls, one on either hand before declaring the greens open for the season 2018 and wishing First Bowl Webthe ladies a successful and enjoyable season. Gents Captain Eddie presented the Lady Captain with the ceremonial jack and a bouquet of flowers for opening the greens.
The ladies and guests played an eight end game and retired to the clubhouse to enjoy sandwiches and home baking prepared by the ladies of the club.
The Lady Captain then went onto announce the winners and runners up of today's game.
The lady Captain then went onto present the Trophy for the Ladies Carpet Bowls which were played over the winter the winner was Mrs Pat McCallan runner up Mrs Joy Farrow.
The Lady captain asked the Gents Captain to say a few words followed by guests from DWBA and GWBA.
The Lady Captain then went onto thank everyone who sent cards and good wishes for her season as Captain.
Also thanks went to everyone that helped prepare the food for the opening, supplying raffle prizes and thanking the gents for serving the teas and coffees and doing the washing up.
The Lady Captain then went on to wish everyone a safe journey home.
